Animation

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xxinum3zNDE

This was a video animation of me going to my friends house. But there was a catch I could only use pictures to make this animation and so I have  to take a shot every step I took. This project allowed me to think creatively and actually taught me a few lessons as well. While shooting this animation I realized that things do always go as planed and that you must be patient with what you are doing, by learning these lessons  I feel that I have become a better artist and it has allowed me to grow my creativity. Originally I had planned to take my pictures for the animation on my brother playing in the snow while it was snowing, he would then cause a pile of snow to fall on my drive way and my dad would come outside to get the mail but end up seeing my brother making the pile of snow fall. My dad would then make my brother shovel the drive way and  get the mail. I couldn't shoot this video because my father had left in the morning and had already shoveled all the snow on the drive way.

Second Critique

Title:  Burst Unity
Artist: Hannah Höch
Date: 1955

Written Response:  When I first saw this image it looked like a butterfly coming out of its cocoon. I see a dark black background transitioning into a lighter green color. In the center there are many wing like structures, each of a different color merging with each other. There are squares in the corner of the picture.  In this picture there are Organic lines around the wings and geometric lines around the edge of the picture.  The picture has value because it makes the image stand out by using a dark color on one side and a lighter contrasting color on the other side.
There is Organic and Geometric shapes in this picture, the wings are organic and the rectangles are geometric.  This picture also has color because of the wings, one of the wings has different shades of red ( a primary color) and another wing has yellow and orange (secondary and tertiary colors) there is also a green color towards the bottom of the picture (secondary color). This picture has a radial balance because it feels balanced and yet it’s totally unequal.  This picture gives Emphasis to the collection of wings because it’s the biggest object and is colored with bright and attractive shades that are visually appealing.  There is also Unity in this picture because even though things look unbalanced they feel unified and give you a peaceful feeling when you view the picture. The use of shading is what really grabs my attention when I see this piece of art. I feel that the artist wanted to show that when people look beyond differences like race, wealth, and interests and come together it can make something truly beautiful and inspiring.

This was my second critique and I felt that writing this one was much more easier after I had a little experience under my belt. The picture by Hannah Hoch inspired me a lot because I could see the unity among many different colors, shapes and sizes. This picture taught me more about which colors would emphasize each other.

"Almost" Music Video for Media Arts

By: Paul Yeh, and Samson Jeyakumar
Starring: Luckxan Baluyot, Amanda Hui, April and Cathleen Santos

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXqeWP5_Qnc (Link for the Music Video)

I almost got drunk at school at 14
Where I almost made out with the Homecoming Queen
Who almost went on to be Miss Texas
But lost to a slut with much bigger breastes
I almost dropped out to move to LA
Where I was almost famous for almost a day

And I almost had you
But I guess that doesn't cut it
I almost loved you
I almost wished you would've loved me too

I almost held up a grocery store
Where I almost did five years and then seven more
Cause I almost got bopped for a fight with a thug
Cause he almost made off with a bunch of the drugs
That I almost got hooked on cause you ran away
And I wish I would have had the nerve to ask you to stay

And I almost had you
But I guess that doesn't cut it
almost had you
And I didn't even know it

And you kept me guessin'
And now I'm destined
To spend my time missing you
I almost wish you would a loved me too

Here I go thinkin' bout all the things I could have done
I'm gonna need a forklift cause all the baggage weighs a ton (baggage weighs a ton)
I know we had our problems, I can't remember one.

I almost forgot to say something else
And if I can't fit it in I'll keep it all to myself
I almost wrote a song about you today
But I tore it all up and then I threw it away

And I almost had you
But I guess that doesn't cut it
Almost had you
And I didn't even know it

You kept me guessin'
And now I'm destined
To spend my time missin' you
And I almost had you
(Almost had you)
Almost had you

I almost wished you would've loved me too
(wished you would've loved me too)

This was a music video for the song Almost. We chose the song Almost by Bowling for Soup because we felt that it wasn't very moody or too slow or fast paced. This allowed us to shoot with what we had planned prior to taking the video and gave us enough artistic freedom to mess around with the shots and still make sure that nothing was out of place. We felt that the song's lyrics contained simplicity and meaning. It allowed the feeling to be expressed which allowed us to make our own artistic rendering of what we felt that the song  portrayed.

Again Please give me your constructive criticism so that I can learn how to better my self.

Media Arts Poster

My artistic rendering of Media Arts. I felt that Media Arts is a program in which you can see yourself grow as you progress through the course, I also felt that the course teaches you many skills and allows you to push your self and see what you are capable of. Media Arts pushes your creativity, which is why I chose to do an abstract vector background for one panel and on the top panel I chose to add in some designs, and pain botches. This is a poster designed to advertise the Media Arts Course.
